Westerville Mayor’s Court
Located at 21 S. State Street, the Westerville Mayor’s Court convenes every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. This Court serves as a local judicial forum to rule on misdemeanor cases alleged to have occurred within the city’s limits. Here, an appointed magistrate, usually a retired judge, presides over each case. These cases may include misdemeanor offenses such as theft, assault, and serious traffic offenses such as OVI/DUI, Hit Skip, Driving Under Suspension and No Operator’s License.
The charges brought in mayor’s court can be serious with fines ranging from $250 to $10,000, and/or jail time from 30 to 180 days, so it is important to have experienced legal representation. About the Area
Once known as the “The Dry Capital of the World,” Westerville is a suburb of Columbus located on the north side. The city got its unfortunate nickname for being the center of prohibition efforts in the early 1900’s. Today, the city is home to numerous universities including Otterbein University, Hondros College, Franklin University (branch), Dominion University, The Ohio State School of Cosmetology, Columbus State Westerville Center (branch) and Fortis College.
