Defined
- With purpose to obtain any valuable thing or valuable benefit,
- Threatening to commit any felony,
- Threating a person, damaging a person’s personal or business reputation, or damaging a person’s credit.
Potential Penalties
Under Ohio law, extortion is a third-degree felony and can be penalized by a prison sentence of 9-6 months in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
